10D: International Human Rights Day

Espai Societat Oberta, Barcelona · 2018

On December 10th is the International Day of Human Rights. The day in which, in 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. On the occasion of the 70th-anniversary of this declaration, Amnesty International Barcelona celebrated and organized an open event.

For online promotion and the signage of the space, a series of calligraphic pieces combined with the Amnesty brand were created, under the slogan “Write for Human Rights” reinforcing the concept of writing letters as a channel of vindication against injustice. Coexisting with other exhibition elements and merchandising.

During the day, different activities were carried out. Few of them were the marathon of letters and collecting signatures for human rights advocates, women who challenge unfair laws, corrupt practices, report of police abuses, and many other injustices. The projection of testimonial videos from the #WelcomeCommunities campaign on refugees. The talk by human and environmental rights defender Karen Taxilaga (Mexico). The illustrations exhibition of No penso callar, which claims the freedom of expression, among others.
